Tottenham vs Wolves

Our prediction for this Premier League match

Tottenham will look to make amends for back-to-back losses to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest when they take on Wolverhampton in the Premier League round 19. Spurs do not seem to be at their sharpest, losing four of their last five league matches and, no doubt, manager Ange Postecoglou is under big pressure ahead of Sunday’s showdown. Right-back Djed Spence serves a one-game ban, while centre-back Radu Dragusin should recover from a minor injury he suffered in the Boxing Day loss.

The Wolves, on the other hand, did well to beat Manchester United 2-0 on Boxing Day to escape the relegation zone. Wolverhampton have been producing fine performances under new boss Vitor Pereira, but seeing that Tottenham Hotspur have turned their stadium into a real fortress, we predict that the visitors are going to return home with their hands empty. The likes of Mosquera, Kalajdzic, Gonzalez, Sarabia, and Traore miss out with injuries for the visiting side.

How the bookies view it: Struggling Spurs to get back on track

Despite their poor form, Tottenham Hotspur are Krikya‘ 11/20 hot favourites for a win with home advantage. Wolverhampton Wanderers are 15/4 outsiders and the draw pays 7/2.

Players to watch: Solanke in hot form

While Spurs have been a shambles at the back, they’re still scoring plenty of goals at the other end, with star striker Dominic Solanke in excellent form. The former Bournemouth hitman is 21/20 for anytime scorer here at Krikya.

Goncalo Guedes has been given a new lease of life by Pereira and netted in the win over Leicester. He should get another chance to shine here and is 7/2 for anytime scorer.

Tottenham vs Wolves Predictions

Wolves escaped the red zone after back-to-back clean-sheet wins over Leicester and Manchester United in the last two rounds.

Matheus Cunha was the hero of the mid-week’s success against the Red Devils, delivering a goal and an assist on Boxing Day.

Wolves got a significant help from Bruno Fernandes who got sent off right at the beginning of the second half of the contest at the Molineux Stadium.

Vitor Pereira’s men now visit the capital for the Matchday No 19 clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs enter the tie off the back of another disappointing showing and a 0-1 loss away at Nottingham Forest.

It was the fourth defeat in the last five league matches for Ange Postecoglou and his troops. Tottenham dropped into the bottom half of the standings as a consequence.

This match has goals in it. Tottenham conceded four or more goals in two of the last four league games.

They did not look great defensively on Thursday away at The City Ground either. Wolves still own the worst defensive record in the division with 40 goals shipped so far in the season.

Wolves lost five of nine away outings in this term of the Premier League, allowing 20 goals along the way.

This will be the music to the ears of Dominic Solanke who is still trying to find his rhythm in North London.

Solanke will surely get plenty of space to deliver up front against the leakiest defence in the division.

Tottenham to win & Both Teams To Score is our main betting option and you can back it at the odds of 2.50. Solanke is 2.10 to find the back of the net on Sunday.

Probable line-ups

Tottenham have a crisis at the back after Djed Spence was sent off on Boxing Day and Radu Dragusin joined an injury list that already includes Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero and first-choice keeper Gugielmo Vicario. Forwards Richarlison and Wilson Odobert also remain out.

The threat of a ban still hangs over Wolves star Matheus Cunha, with the FA taking an age to rule on the ugly incident with a member of Ipswich’s backroom staff. Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez, Boubacar Traore, Pablo Sarabia and Sasa Kalajdzic are injured while Mario Lemina is a doubt.

Tottenham Hotspur: Forster, Porro, Gray, Sarr, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison, Kulusevski, Son, Solanke.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Sa, Semedo, Ait-Nouri, Bueno, T Gomes, J Gomes, Andre, R Gomes, Strand-Larsen, Bellegarde, Guedes.
